Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Office of Emergency Management and BJ’s Partner to host Citizen Corps Public Safety Day

 


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Office of Emergency Management (OEM), BJ’s Stores, and the Miami-Dade Citizen’s Corps are partnering to hold a Public Safety Day event on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the BJ's Miami West Kendall store located at 16200 SW 88th St.

The Miami-Dade Citizen Corps will host the event to promote public safety and awareness issues, best practices for family security during emergencies, and community preparedness. The Public Safety Day will be free and informative for Miami-Dade residents and visitors.

OEM is the host agency for Miami-Dade Citizen Corps, which coordinates community programs aimed at preparing residents and visitors with the skills and training to properly deal with a major emergency. The Miami-Dade Citizen Corps Council is made up of four core programs: the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Citizen's Crime Watch of Miami-Dade, Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS), and Medical Reserve Corps.

The Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management is committed to working with its partners and the community to lessen the impact of disasters and potential catastrophic incidents.
